BYCS operates as a global non-governmental organization with a focus on promoting cycling as a means of urban transportation. The organization envisions a future where half of all city trips are made by bicycle. To achieve this, BYCS supports community-led urban change initiatives that encourage cycling. They also have a program called 'Bicycle Hero' that works with children, teachers, or parents at schools to make cycling safer and more enjoyable. The organization also provides lifelong learning and community development activities.
