We’re scaling across Europe and into the US, and we need a Senior Backend Engineer who turns complex labour rules into clean, reliable code.
This is what you'll do
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you build the engine behind our platform, and you help decide how it’s built. You design features that hold up under enterprise traffic and optimise the paths that can’t afford to crack. With Frontend, Product and DevOps, you turn complex business rules into systems that simply work. Reliability doesn’t just happen here. We design for it, and you get a real say in how. You care about clean code, resilient systems and strong performance, and you’re trusted to make the calls that get us there.
Own the technical design of features that handle enterprise traffic across regions, and optimise critical paths for performance and reliability.
Shape architecture decisions and set the standard for code quality, testing and release readiness.
Turn business needs into working systems with Product Owners, UX designers and DevOps. You own it end to end and flag early when something’s off track.
Be the engineer others learn from, through code reviews, pairing and design sessions.
Work in focused 6-week cycles with clear scope, time to build, and space to do it properly.
This is what you'll need
5+ years in backend development, including at least 2 in a senior role making architecture decisions.
Deep PHP (Symfony) experience.
You’ve optimised MySQL in production and modelled a complex domain with DDD, and you can explain your choices.
Business sense: you ask what problem a feature solves before you build it.
Ownership: you ship it, you own it, also when it breaks.
You flag risks early and keep people updated without being asked.
You’ve helped other engineers grow, and you enjoy it.
Experience with Docker and GitLab CI/CD. Kubernetes is a plus.
